These bushy plants with deeply cut green leaves and profuse daisylike
blooms have two great sets - they thrive in hot weather and tolerate
pollution. Annual tickseeds (perennial tickseeds also exist) have
flowers in a range of yellows and chestnuts from midsummer to early
fall. They look best in borders and can be used for cutting.
Popular species and cultivars
Coreopsis tinctoria (syn. C. bicolor) has profuse bright yellow flowers
on stiff stems about 2 ft (60 cm) tall. A dwarf cultivar reaches 1 ft
(30 cm) high.
