The charm of tidytips (Layia platyglossa) lies in the neat white tips of
the pale yellow petals. The petals themselves surround a bright yellow
central disk. Tidytips is a bushy, well-branched plant, some 11/2 ft (45
cm) high, with pleasantly scented gray-green leaves. Suitable for
herbaceous borders and summer annual beds, it provides a succession of
daisylike flowers from early summer until midfall where summers are
cool; where summers are hot, it blooms in spring or fall. Tidytips are
useful for cutting as well as garden decoration.
