This bushy annual, with its mass of funnel-shaped blooms in many vivid
colors, grows well on the Pacific Coast but is hard to grow in other
climates. It offers a splendid summer-long show of bright flowers. Plant
nemesias in beds and containers. They are long-lasting as cut flowers.
Popular species and cultivars
Several cultivars are derived from Nemesia strumosa.
'Carnival Hybrids' produce compact plants 9 in (23 cm) high, which
become smothered with a mixture of brightly colored blooms.
'Funfair,' also compact (up to 9in/23 cm high), blooms in bright shades
of red, orange, and gold.
'Mello Red and White' bears bicolored flowers on 7-9 in (18-23 cm)
plants.
'Triumph Red,' up to 10 in (25 cm) tall, is compact and early flowering,
with bright red blossoms.
