- Planting distance 1 ft (30 cm)
- Flowers early summer to midfall
- Well-drained soil
- Sunny site
- Half-hardy annual
Cape daisy (Venidium fastuosum), a half-hardy annual from South Africa,
deserves more attention from gardeners. Its large sunflowerlike blooms
are particularly striking - rich orange with black central disks - and
are attractively set off by the silver-white, deeply lobed woolly
leaves. The cultivar 'Zulu Prince' has creamy white flowers with black
central disks. Appearing between early summer to midfall, Cape daisies
look best planted in bold clusters in beds. They are long-lasting as cut
flowers.
