cm)
- Planting distance 2-3 in (5-7.5 cm)
- Flowers late spring to early summer
- Well-drained soil
- Sheltered, sunny site

As they have only a few long, narrow green leaves, brodiaeas should be
grown in groups. The flowers have a star trumpet shape, depending on the
species. Borne on stems 11/2-2 ft (45-60 cm) high, they make good cut
flowers.
Popular species and cultivars
Brodiaea coronaria (syn. B. grandiflora) reaches 11/2 ft (45 cm) high
and has starry blue-purple flowers in late spring to early summer.
Brodiaea laxa (syn. Triteleia laxa) has loose clusters of dark blue
trumpet-shaped flowers that resemble a tiny Agapanthus. The flowers
appear in late spring to early summer on 2 ft (60 cm) stems. The
cultivar 'Queen Fabiola' is somewhat taller than the species, has
sturdier stems, and flowers in June or July.
