Popular species and cultivars
Brodiaea coronaria (syn. B. grandiflora) reaches 11/2 ft (45 cm) high and has starry blue-purple flowers in late spring to early summer. Brodiaea laxa (syn. Triteleia laxa) has loose clusters of dark blue trumpet-shaped flowers that resemble a tiny Agapanthus. The flowers appear in late spring to early summer on 2 ft (60 cm) stems. The cultivar 'Queen Fabiola' is somewhat taller than the species, has sturdier stems, and flowers in June or July.
