Crinum
crinum
- Height 11/2-2 ft (45-60
cm)
- Planting distance 1-11/2 ft (30-45 cm)
- Flowers late summer to early fall
- Rich, well-drained soil
- Sunny, sheltered site
- Bulbs available year round
- Hardy zones 8 or 9-10, with winter protection into zone 7
If you'd like to bring a subtropical feeling to your garden, consider
planting Crinum x powellii, the hardiest member of the Crinum genus. It
is not an easy bulb to grow, needing sun, mild conditions, and frequent
tidying up, but you'll be rewarded with exotic white or pink lilylike
blooms.
