Freesias may be grown outdoors in the lower South, but are so vulnerable to wind or rain that they are best grown indoors. The single or double flowers (white, pink, yellow, orange, red, mauve, purple, and blue) are carried on 8-18 in(20-45 cm) high wiry stems. They appear in late summer outdoors, but may be forced indoors in winter. Their wonderful scent enhances a cut flower display.
