- Sunny site
- Tubers available late winter to midspring

Most Ranunculus species are herbaceous annuals or aquatic plants, but the turban buttercup R. asiaticus is bulbous with tuberous roots. Where it is hardy, plant in fall for flowers the following summer; in colder regions plant the tubers in spring. Each stem bears a semi-double or double peonylike flower in white, pink, apricot, orange, red, or yellow. The bulbs are usually sold mixed and provide color in borders. When cut, the flowers last a long time.
